About MassHats
Formed in 2023, MassHats is a four-piece New England rock band with its feet planted firmly in the alternative, grunge, and hard rock of the ’90s.
Rather than simply running through the decade’s greatest hits, MassHats approaches the music as a live rock band should—loud, loose enough to breathe, and with the kind of chemistry that only comes from spending time together onstage. Since forming, the band has built that chemistry across bars, festivals, parties, and private events throughout the region.
The setlists move easily between massive songs everyone knows and deeper cuts that haven't gotten nearly enough volume in the years since. There’s no attempt to impersonate the original artists or recreate 1994 note for note. MassHats is after something more interesting: the weight, attitude, and unpredictability that made this music so much fun in the first place.
For those who were there, it feels familiar.
For everyone else, consider this an introduction.

MEET THE BAND
Christian "Goob" Mills
Lead Vocals/Guitar
Christian “Goob” Mills has been hooked on music for as long as he can remember. He started on violin in fourth grade—until an ill-fated attempt to clean it brought that career to an abrupt end. His parents weren’t buying another one, so chorus became Plan B. Turns out, that worked out pretty well.
Growing up, Christian soaked up just about anyone who came through the Springfield Civic Center in the ’80s, and those years of loud guitars and larger-than-life voices never really left him. Today, his powerful, unmistakable vocals are at the center of the MassHats sound, taking on some of the most iconic voices of ’90s rock while making the songs his own.
When he’s not behind the mic, his happy place is on a surfboard in the ocean, hanging by the pool, or right back where MassHats began—jamming with the boys in the basement.
Michael "Red" Walsh
Lead Guitar
Michael “Red” Walsh draws his inspiration from guitar players who made the instrument impossible to ignore—from the fire and precision of Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen to the unmistakable phrasing of David Gilmour and the technical brilliance of Steve Vai.
That mix of influences comes through in his approach to MassHats: big riffs, soaring leads, and the kind of guitar work that serves the song without being afraid to step out front when the moment calls for it. Whether he’s digging into a heavy ’90s riff or taking a solo for a ride, Red brings his own feel and attitude to the music rather than simply copying what’s on the record.
Away from the amp, Red enjoys the quieter side of life—most notably, long walks on the beach. Apparently even guitar players need a power ballad ending.
Lee Brehart
Bass
Lee started playing accordion at seven. By 15, he’d discovered its one fatal flaw: you can’t play Black Sabbath on the accordion. Well, you can, but nobody needs to hear it.
So he picked up the bass—and found his instrument.
Raised on Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, Lee has spent decades playing in bands and developing the kind of rock-solid feel that only comes from years onstage. Equally at home driving a song or sitting deep in the groove, he brings power, precision, and a seasoned ear to MassHats—holding down the low end without getting in its way.
Offstage, Lee is just as likely to have his hands on a wrench as a bass, whether he’s building his motorcycle, working on cars, or generally finding something mechanical to tear into.
The accordion has been asked to sit this one out.
Keith "Heathen" Lindsey
Drums
Keith “Heathen” Lindsey has been behind the kit for most of his life, beginning a musical journey that has included recording original material in the ’80s, years of live performance, and an appearance at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre during Grammy week in 2017. Drawing from a wide range of influences—including Neil Peart, John Bonham, and Stewart Copeland—Lindsey developed a hard-hitting style grounded in rock-solid timing and a deep sense of groove. With MassHats, that combination of power and precision gives the band its rhythmic backbone.
Offstage, Keith remains committed to improving society one unsolicited internet comment at a time. Society has yet to thank him.
